Chip Pruden (left), the Agency’s owner, is an authorized agent for Blue Cross® and Blue Shield® of North Carolina. Wallace Evans (right) was the founder of Evans Insurance Agency, now newly established as Pruden Insurance Agency.
Former Edenton Steamers General Manager Chip Pruden is the owner of the Pruden Insurance Agency in Edenton.
Prior to purchasing the former Evans Insurance Agency from Wallace Evans, Pruden was associated with Farm Bureau in Camden. His wife — the former Karen Parrish of Edenton — is currently a guidance counselor at John A. Holmes in Edenton.
Pruden said he and Evans first met when Pruden was with the Steamers and Evans was serving as president of the organization.
“Wallace had approached me about purchasing the business, and I like working with health insurance,” Pruden said.
After thinking it over, Pruden said ‘yes’ to taking over the agency, which provides health insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
“I thought it was a great opportunity for me to be my own boss,” he said.
Pruden said he felt being involved in the health insurance industry provides a valuable community service.
“I feel you really get to provide them (clients) with a service that enhances their lives,” he said.
The agency is located at 216 S. Broad Street, Suite M100. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
